We had a great time in dance class last night at Jesse Blacks ... we had a few "new faces" that showed up and quite a few dancers that were back from vacation. We were glad to see everyone, both the "returnees" as well as the "new ones". I hope y'all enjoyed class as much as I enjoyed teaching it.
As mentioned in class last night, JB's is having a "Tractor Pull" event next Friday night so class has been canceled. The reason for this as one may guess is that a "Tractor Pull" tends to get REAL NOISY and makes it really difficult to conduct class. Been there, done that, and it's a fact! Class will start again on Friday 07/03/2009 at its normal time. I realize that is the night that a LOT of places are going to be having fireworks shows and such, but if you find yourself wanting to go dancing then come on out to Jesse Blacks Saloon ... I'm sure we can get some "fireworks" of some kind going even if it's just some "hot, flashy, turns" out on the dance floor.

ured dance for the month of July will be the "Two Step". I've been teaching at JB's for a bit over a month now and I have seen that there are a LOT of "two steppers" out there so having a "bare basics" class for Two Step would be sort of redundant. What my "plan" for teaching this great country dance is for the FIRST friday night I will cover basics. Experienced dancers can even benefit from this because I don't care how good a dancer one is, going over "the basics" is very beneficial to ones dance. There are also dancers out there that have no idea of how to do a two step. Those dancers will benefit simply because I will be teaching the basic "foot" patterns and explaining "form", "framework", and "tone". By the end of the first nights class, the beginners should have a "basic" understanding of how the two step is done. More experienced dancers while probably not learning anything that is new to them could quite possibly have their memory "jogged" and think to themselves ... "oh yeah, I remember now" ... yep, it does happen!
The second week of class wil build on the first week, third week on the second, and so on. By the time the last week of class rolls around it won't be just the "beginners" that will be challenged. I am confident that I know "patterns" that most have never seen here in Florida. No brag, just fact!
Due to the response from class over the last two weeks I will continue with our "revised" class format. I am now teaching the "featured" dance for the first 45 minutes of class. That generally induces "brain overload" in less experienced dancers but isn't long enough for the more experienced dancers to get bored should they already be familiar with the class material. The second half of class will be a totally different dance. For the month of July it will be "Hustle". I am TRYING to keep that second class at the "beyond basics" level. I'm doing this so that the more "experienced" dancers can come out and be "brain dead" by the end of class as well as my less experienced dancers.
